 | Art and Culture Gathering

Background 
Hongkonger have limited living space. It is difficult to have a comfortable space for working, gathering and doing something you want to do at home. Therefore, Hong Kong people usually spend money to rent space for gathering or working.


A lot of communities in Hong Kong have many leisure facilities or activities to meet the physical needs of human beings but there lack some facilities or activities to meet people's spiritual needs, such as galleries and community art creation.

Concept  Statement 

Third Place is a public communication place. It is free, comfortable and open for everyone who is lack of space to have gathered, working and communicating. It meets the characteristics of Third Place but belongs to Hongkonger. Moreover, space could divide some areas for people to do art creation and exhibition to let art and culture melt in the community.

Design  Direction 

01 It is open, free and welcome to everyone come.

02 There are many interactions and interconnections occur.

03 People enjoy spending time here.

There is no wall that all of the spaces open to the public. The design of grids is the activities that will occur in the space. Inside, people could travel freely without any restriction.

Children's Playground, Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan (in front of Man Mo Temple )
